The European Hansemuseum (EHM) attaches great importance to sustainability and climate protection. One important cornerstone of this policy is to establish the museum’s current carbon footprint, thus enabling the effectiveness of climate protection policies to be measured. By creating transparency with regard to its carbon footprint, the EHM can show both internally and to the outside world how close it is to achieving its “Vision Zero” target.

The European Hansemuseum is known as the leading museum in the world on the history of the Hanseatic League. It was the first German museum to join the “Museums for Future” network to put greater emphasis on sustainability in museums.
